The Phantom Lake Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a team of parent & community volunteers who focus on many important issues and events that involve our children and our school. We create a positive link between school and home, and advocate for all of our PLE students. If you are interested in volunteering, we would love to have you!  Commitments can be short or long-term, whatever fits into your schedule. Please click the VOLUNTEER icon above to fill out our online form!

Each year we plan and host many events that bring our families together and we raise funds to benefit our students and teachers. Events like the Fall Read-A-Thon and Spring Auction help pay for vital programs and materials that are needed within the classroom. These funds also help keep the cost down for field trips and books, as well paying for playground equipment, school supplies and after-school activities.

Volunteering with the PTA is a great opportunity to meet other parents while making a difference in the lives of our children. This is an area where you can make a definitive impact on the quality of your child's education and the community as whole. You are part of a tight knit family of volunteers dedicated to creating the best environment for our children to learn and grow.

We urge you to join us and become part of the PTA team that advocates for our future, our children!

Phantom Lake Elementary is a wonderful school because parents and staff work together for the good of the students.  This could not be accomplished without parental support and the volunteer contributions of parents just like you! Job descriptions for open PTA board and committee roles are listed below. If you are at all interested in volunteering for a position or have any questions, please contact phantomlakepta@gmail.com.

What does the PTA do for the school?

The PTA works with parents and faculty to organize and facilitate events both during and after school hours that serve to enrich our children's educational experiences and build a stronger community. Some of the programs PTA helps support include: Field Trips, Classroom Supplies, Read-A-Thon, Family Events, and Staff Appreciation.

Why should I volunteer on the PTA?

1. Your child feels a sense of pride to know that his/her parent helps at the school.

2. You get to meet and work with wonderful people!

3. You stay updated and informed on what is going on at our school.

4. You can more effectively suggest change at our school.

5. Everyone has different strengths and talents. Everyone has something unique to offer our school and our children!

Can I be a member and work full time?

Yes! Many of our members hold a full or part time job.

Do I have to be a mom to serve on the board?

No! We love to have dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles and anyone who cares about Phantom Lake Elementary and the students who attend here.

Does it take a lot of time?

Yes and no--it depends on the position. Most duties can be performed from home and some require your presence at the school. Some positions are seasonal and some require some effort for most of the year. Some positions work well if you decide to do them with a friend. Explore which position would be right for you. The time you donate to actively participate in your child's school is time well spent. It shows our children that we care about what they do every day.

Parent volunteers who work in the classroom or office, help out with school events and/or attend field trips are required by Bellevue School District to fill out a Volunteer packet and Washington State background check found HERE. BSD volunteer registration is done online as of 2018. If you have questions, please see the frequently asked questions on the BSD Volunteer site.
